Jessie Jo Egersett, Massage Director
Jessie Jo is a Licensed Massage Practitioner and graduate of Brian Utting School of Massage in 1999. Her education includes many modalities of bodywork with an emphasis on deep tissue. She is also the Director on Massage here at the Seattle Athletic Club.
Jessie Jo’s massage is a melting pot of many styles that include Swedish, deep tissue, sports massage, TMJ and tendonitis treatment. She also includes a bit of Thai massage in each session, which is an ancient practice that encompasses yoga, and rhythmic compression along energetic pathways.
Jessie Jo was introduced to yoga at the age of 12 and believes it not only saved her life, but it made it much more interesting! She is currently teaching hatha-based yoga, studying Anusara yoga and Ayruveda. She continues to be enthralled by all of the many philosophies that were birthed out of the Indus river valley.
Gracie Hunt, Events Director
For the past 20 years, Gracie has provided clients with all the right ingredients for unique social events, and memorable corporate events. As an undergraduate student at University of San Diego, she chose catering as a part-time job. After a move to San Francisco, Gracie was given the opportunity to be instrumental in planning corporate meetings, seminars, incentive trips, fashion shows, and private social gatherings.
Since moving back to her native Seattle, Gracie has planned events for several Northwest based corporations, associations, and private families; including auctions, fundraisers, corporate holiday parties, store openings, rehearsal dinners, weddings, intimate cocktail parties, bar/bat mitzvahs, graduations, birthdays, anniversaries, and many memorable galas.
Gracie’s careful planning and focused attention to every detail, in combination with her passion for planning memorable parties; make her an invaluable asset to the Seattle Athletic Club.
Ayub Khan, Squash Pro
As certified squash professional at the club for the past twenty years, Ayub has coached many promising champions including his sisters Shabana and Latasha. Ayub was the 1985 Pacific Coast Champion and the 1990 Seattle City Champion. After his days at the University of Washington, he was a 1990 US National quarterfinalist.
Shabana Khan, Squash Pro
A certified squash professional at the club for the past seventeen years, Shabana has been ranked as high as #23 in Women’s World Professional Squash. Her titles include US Women’s Open champion, US Women’s Skill Level 6.0 champion, U. S. Open Champion, US Softball Open Doubles champion, Pan Am Federation Cup gold team member, two-time Pan Am Games silver medalist, Women’s Howe Cup A/Open team champion and four-time national junior girls champion. She represented the United States as a member of two world junior teams, five women’s world teams and two world softball doubles teams including the inaugural event in 1997.
In 2003, the club hosted the Women’s Howe Cup including an inaugural Women’s D event. Seattle teams won the B, C, and D events. Also, she is a University of Washington graduate and coach of the 2005-06 USSRA National Girls team.
Yusuf Khan, Squash Director
Yusuf Khan, the club’s squash director, holds many squash titles, has produced numerous champions and promoted the game throughout the world. In 1957, Yusuf was ranked number three in the world. Consecutively from 1958-68, he was the Professional Squash Champion of India. There he produced Anil Nayar who was the first Indian junior to win the British Drysdale Cup, two national intercollegiate championships at Harvard and other national and Canadian titles. At the request of the Seattle Tennis Club in 1968 he moved to Seattle. In 1970, he won the inaugural Boston Open. From 1971-1975, he was ranked third in the world of North American Squash. Other titles from 1978 through 1990 include Professional Veterans Champion, World Masters singles and doubles champion, Senior Professional Squash Champion and 50+ Canadian Open Doubles Champion.
In 1975 Yusuf built the first softball court in the United States upon which the first Seattle Open tournament was held in 1984. In 1986 he built four softball courts at the Seattle Athletic Club. In 1988 the addition of the glasswall showcased Seattle’s first Professional Rolex US Open headlined by Jahangir Khan. In 1989, he hosted the Seattle’s first Rolex National Softball championship. When the US switched to softball in 1995, three more courts were added and the club welcomed its second nationals. In 1998, he held Seattle’s first Women’s International Professional tournament “Squash for Breast Cancer.” In 1999, the club welcomed the first US Women’s World Open Championship played on a four-wall glass court in the basketball area. Both Khan sisters competed. In 2001 and 2004 he hosted the US Nationals and US Skill Level Championships. In 2006 the club welcomed boys and girls from around the world to the US Junior Open. Yusuf’s student Vidya Rajan won the Girls 15. Under Yusuf’s coaching, Mark Alger, Hugh Labossier, Sue Clinch, Shabana and Latasha Khan clinched A/Open National titles. Many others received national age group and skill level titles as well as local and regional championships.
Tim Koffler, Fitness Director
Tim is an honors graduate of Ashmead College's Personal Trainer Program and a certified Health/Fitness Instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). He holds a Performance Enhancement Specialist certificate through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and a bachelor's degree in Business Leadership from the University of Puget Sound. Tim has been involved in a diverse range of athletics his entire life; from competing at local, state and collegiate levels for triathalon, tennis, volleyball, and badminton to representing the United States in soccer at international tournaments throughout the United States, Europe, and Australia.
Tim is a published writer and Fitness Editor for a women's healthy living magazine, and was named the Best Personal Trainer in Seattle for 2006 by Seattle Magazine. Using his strengths as a personal trainer and motivator in his management of the Seattle Athletic Club's fitness department, he strives to advance the staff's knowledge, education and skills to super-service our clients/members. This dedication to advanced education and the free sharing of knowledge between trainers has kept the Seattle Athletic Club's Fitness Department on the leading edge of advances and trends in the fitness industry.
Jill Maag, Pro Shop Manager
Jill Maag was born and raised in Seattle and grew up with a passion for clothing and athletics. She began her studies at the Seattle Art Institute and completed her degree at California Design College. Jill has spent the past few years working in the fashion industry as both a stylist and designer in Los Angeles and New York. She is extremely excited to be the Manager of the Pro Shop, offering classic styles of active wear with a touch of fashion-forward apparel, and looks forward to assisting any members or customers in their shopping experience.
Anna Miller, Group Exercise Director
Anna's philosophy is to motivate and inspire people to reach their full potential while utilizing safe and effective movement. She believes education, technique and coaching are the foundation for all successful classes. Most recently, Anna was the regional Group Exercise director for a national health club chain, and single handedly managed six different locations.
Teresa Nelson, Aquatics Director and Triathlon Coach
Teresa started in the sport of triathlon 7 years ago after returning to Seattle in 2000 after she receiver her BS in fitness management at the University of Nevada-Reno. In 2007 she qualified for her professional triathlon license through USAT. Teresa swam at the NCAA Division I school and earned rankings as a Big West All-Conference Collegiate and National Level Swimmer. She maintains the highest standards of certifications as a USAT Level II Triathlon Coach, a Health/Fitness Instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), as Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and as a Pilates Instructor through the Pilates Studio New York. She has years of experience in athletics, ranging from competitive gymnastics, swimming, bodybuilding, fitness, running and triathlons. Teresa enjoys educating and motivating others to reach their goals and exceed their personal expectations in their multisport events. She currently oversees the aquatic program at the Seattle Athletic Club.
Danielle Zack, Pilates Director
Danielle has been teaching Pilates since 1999. Prior to becoming a Pilates Instructor, Danielle received her B.F.A. in Dance from Stephens College in Columbia, MO in 1998. She studied anatomy and kinesiology, along with ballet, modern dance, African, Flamenco, East Indian, Tap, and Jazz. After the whirlwind of this intensive three-year accelerated program, Danielle realized that her body had survived without any injuries, despite the demanding physical challenges. In fact, she was enjoying the strength and flexibility and long, lean muscles and attributed it to the daily Pilates classes.
Inspired by her love of dance, Danielle brings energy and artistry to her hands-on style of teaching. She studied with brilliant teachers around the country, from Janice Dulak in Columbia, to Juanita Lopez in the windy city, and finally Lori Coleman-Brown from Seattle. She continues her annual continued education with the ever inspiring Romana Kryzanowska and Sari Mejia Santo.
When Danielle goes home for the day, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She pirouettes weekly in dance class, gardens on the weekends, and walks everywhere.
